Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground clove
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • Granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • Cranberry jam or preserves (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Whisk dry ingredients. Cream butter and brown sugar; beat in egg and molasses.
  2. Mix in dry ingredients on low. Scoop 1-Tbsp balls, roll in sugar, and place on sheets.
  3. Bake at 350°F for 8–9 minutes.
  4. While warm, press a shallow “well” (thumb or back of measuring spoon). Cool; fill with jam.
